About AviationDepth

AviationDepth is a free public resource for searching FAA airmen certification data. We index the FAA's Civil Aviation Registry — a public record covering everyone who holds an FAA-issued certificate — and present it in a fast, searchable format.

What's in the database

The registry covers the full spectrum of FAA certificate holders: airline transport pilots (ATP), commercial and private pilots, student pilots, flight instructors (CFI), remote pilots (drone operators), aircraft mechanics (A&P), parachute riggers, aircraft dispatchers, control tower operators, and more. Each record includes the airman's name, city, state, FAA unique ID, certificate types and levels, ratings (such as instrument or multi-engine), type ratings (specific aircraft like the B-737 or A-320), and medical certificate information where available.

Where the data comes from

The FAA publishes four CSV files weekly through the Releasable Airmen Download: pilot basic information, pilot certificates, non-pilot basic information, and non-pilot certificates. AviationDepth ingests these files weekly and updates the database with any additions or changes. The data reflects official FAA records as of the most recent update shown in the site footer.

Who uses this site

AviationDepth is used by aviation employers verifying credentials before hiring, flight schools confirming student records, pilots double-checking their own registry entries, and aviation enthusiasts exploring the breadth of certified airmen across the country. Anyone can search by name, browse by certificate type, or filter by state.

Limitations and important notes

This site is for informational purposes only. Some airmen opt out of address disclosure through the FAA — their city, state, and ZIP code will not appear in their records. Certificate data may lag a few days behind the FAA's most recent issuance. Medical certificate information is included as reported but should not be used to determine current medical status. For authoritative, real-time verification of any airman certificate, use the official FAA Airmen Inquiry tool.
